Go Green On Your Wedding Day
Growing up we were big fans of Captain Planet. Ok, fine. HUGE FANS. And you may probably already know this if you’ve chatted with us recently about making your wedding more sustainable. Eco-friendly options for your event have never been easier. From rentals to compostable serving ware there are many new and old ways to save the planet and your budget. This is the first in a series of posts about how to hosting a eco-friendly and sustainable wedding. Let’s deep dive into our favorite way… renting…
Something Borrowed
We love the rentals as part of your wedding day. In fact, if you’re flexible and open-minded there is a world of opportunities to sustainably accessorize your day.
The Flowers
This one may take some coordination but we think it would be an amazing opportunity for a bride’s who share the same wedding weekend. Picture it, you find a floral designer working with a couple getting married the day before or after you. Working together you create centerpieces and arbor floral designs that suit you both. With proper planning you’ve just extended the life of these amazing arrangements! We do not recommend this for your bouquets or boutonnieres – we’ve seen what they go through in a day and it would be hard to guarantee they make it to the second event.
Or repurpose live plants from your home, or friends and family. These love ferns were borrowed from a family friend and were the perfect touch to staging the bar.
The Decor
One of the primary reasons we dived into the decor rental business is because we saw how often couples were renting u-hauls to transport the decor they’ve shopped for over the length of their engagement – which could be years! Only to try to sell their decor later on at a fraction of the cost. There are entire Facebook groups dedicated to reselling wedding decor! (Tangent alert – we love these groups and are a frequent lurker and buyer!) Renting decor will drastically reduce your decorating budget and in many cases allow you to add high end touches at a fraction of the cost. And did we mention no U-Haul and Facebook Marketplace. And given the supply chain shortages affecting every industry renting is one way to guarantee what you want will be be ready and available at your wedding.
Speaking of renting, shop our rental decor today!
We can’t wait to hear what you think of renting your way to a healthier planet and budget!
Keep Celebrating,
